Coltsville Heritage Partnership

Coltsville Heritage Partnership (CHP) is the friends group supporting the National Park Service in the development and programming for Coltsville National Historical Park. Coltsville is located in downtown Hartford at the historic Colt Armory where Samual Colt’s firearm manufacturing factory was located for more than 100 years. The location, known for its blue onion dome with a shining colt, is soon to be the site of Connecticut's second national historical park.

In 2014, Congress authorized the creation of Coltsville National Historical Park at the Colt Armory with a set of three conditions that must be met for the official establishment of the park. Today, two of these three conditions have been met, with the NPS team and Colt Gateway working to complete the last requirement: the official donation of the park property. CHP is working diligently to drive movement on the establishment of the park to reach the goal of opening the second national historic park in Connecticut right in downtown Hartford.

We’re a leader. Coltsville Heritage Partnership is representing the people of Hartford, pushing for the creation of a National Historical Park for the state’s capital city. We are not afraid to go out on a limb to solve the most challenging problems facing Coltsville and will do so by representing the interests of the people of Hartford.

We’re a partner. Coltsville Heritage Partnership works with other organizations such as the Colt Park Foundation, the friend’s group to Hartford’s city park, and the National Park Foundation to implement programs for the good of Coltsville National Historical Park. In addition, we work with key stakeholders and have a wide range of community members, civic leaders, and corporate partners serving on our board and volunteering for our organization.

We’re a friend. Coltsville Heritage Partnership represents the collective voice and resources of the people of Hartford. Our beautiful and historic city deserves to be preserved and memorialized with a National Historical Park. We strive to have a strong working relationship with the park because we have the park’s best interests at heart.
